Part of the same umbrella structure as the above, the Musée des Arts de la Mode was opened in 1986 in the far corner of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Following the same fate, it awaits a major extension so that it will at last be able to accomodate its permanent collections.
In 1991, the government finally earmarked 26 million euros for the entire restructuring and modernization of both these museums, which now also incorporates the Musée de la publicité. In 1996, this exceptional Parisian showcase spanning the history of design, advertising, and fashion will present a refreshed face to the public.
