Tacky it may be, but the Folies-Bergère still stands after 125 years. Its bar has been immortalized on canvas by Manet, and this was where the likes of Mistinguett and Josephine Baker thrilled the audiences of the années folles, while the acrobatic Tiller Girls swung along astride their merry-go-round horses under its dome. The Folies-Bergère has today lost much of its sparkle and daring. Feathers, bare breasts, sequins, and plastic smiles seem a little systematic, as the army of dancers goes through its repertoire of Bal à Versailles or the Eiffel Tower cancan. Whatever, it is still the least pretentious of the Parisian cabarets and won’t cost you an arm and a leg.

The Moulin Rouge, located on the tacky boulevard de Clichy at the bottom of the hill in Pigalle.
The Moulin Rouge, world-wide famous thanks to its French Cancan, and immortalized by the painter Toulouse-Lautrec, has always presented sumptuous shows to its spectators : from the Quadrille of La Goulue and Valentin-le-Désossé to the Redoutes and Operettas, from Colette to Mistinguett’s great revues. The concept is still the same at the Moulin Rouge : feathers, rhinestones and sequins, fabulous settings, original music and of course, it’s the most beautiful girls in the world.
Many international stars have performed on stage at the Moulin Rouge : Liza Minnelli, Frank Sinatra, Elton John…
For 120 years, the most legendary cabaret in the world has welcomed millions of spectators who have come to admire the famous shows.
